Louise's hair before colouring - warm medium brown with some grey strands
Louise's hair after colouring with Henna and Indigo - a richer colour on her brown hair and grey covered
Louise's Story:
This was my first experience with henna and I wanted to match my natural colour as much as possible. After a lot of reading and looking through the gallery the mix I used was:
100g Henna (activated with 1 part lemon to 2 parts water),
50g Amla (with hot water)
100g Indigo (with lukewarm water)
Then all mixed together for a single application, left on the hair for 2 hours. The mixture made too much for my hair length so I would make less next time. The grey coverage worked well. The grey hair took more of the coppery colour, but mixed in with the other colours in my hair I'm really pleased with the result. I will definitely be keeping up with this.
Tricia's Comment:
This mix of equal parts henna and indigo worked really well on louise's hair because she has only a few strands of grey. Mixing half a part of amla helped to dilute the colour slightly so that it was not too strong on top of her already brown hair. If she had more grey it would have be to coppery on her grey hair and I would have suggested a larger proportion of indigo to henna and more amla so that the increase in indigo did not make it too dark.

Its Pure Organics Henna and Indigo and Amla on Brown and Grey Hair (with more indigo than henna)
The 2 sets of pictures below are before and after 1 part henna, 3 parts indigo, half a part cassia powder and half a part amla powder. All the powders were mixed together with warm water. Applied and left on for 1.5 hours. Mixing the cassia and amla made it less strong a colour than it usually would be with just henna and indigo. If the henna had been soaked it would have been a stronger colour.

Logona Nougat Colour Cream on grey hair
Lavinia used the Nougat Colour Cream and left it on for 1.5 hours followed by Logona Colour Conditioner. During this time the processing time she applied a hair dryer for about 8 minutes to provide some heat to help it work better. Lavinia says that she is in the 'senior' over 65 category and hopes this will encourage more older greying ladies to try it. She says it is much better than using permanent chemical dyes.
