Rajasthani henna is renowned for its superb quality.

This henna is from Sojat, Rajasthan, in India which has an excellent desert climate for henna growing, producing excellent quality henna powder for hair colouring. Rajasthan is often referred to as "The Henna Capital of the World!" Because this henna is also Soil Association Certified it makes it doubly high quality. Take a look at our customer reviews at the bottom of this page - you can read multiple in depth reviews of our henna powder hair colouring products.

This henna is suitable for hair colouring. Henna will generally give brown hair red/brown undertones. Henna will give light coloured hair (grey, white, or blonde) a more orange/red tone. Click the link for Rajasthani Body Art henna.

Combining henna powder with Indigo to get a reddish-brown, brown, or black shade.

Using henna with indigo can create a range of shades from reddish brown to black. The resulting colour depends on the method you use, how long you leave the paste on for, and the proportion of henna and indigo you use. Click the link for our Certified Organic Indigo.

There are two ways of using henna with indigo:

Method 1 (double application): First, dye your hair with henna so it goes auburn/red. Next, dye your hair with indigo, and the red will turn to brown. To achieve the desired shade, you need to both get the right amount of indigo and leave the indigo on for the right amount of time. The longer the indigo is left on your hair, the darker it will be. If you leave it on the maximum time, it can go black.

Method 2 (single application): Soak the henna overnight. In the morning, when you are ready to dye your hair, mix the indigo with water. Thoroughly mix the henna mixture together with the indigo mixture. To get a more red-brown shade use a larger percentage of henna. To get a darker brown, use a larger proportion of indigo. To get a black shade use method 1.

Everyone's hair is different and will take the colour differently so trial and error may be necessary to get the desired shade.

How much henna powder do you need for your hair?

Simply the best

I used other brands of henna for years - mixtures of all manner of things, hard blocks, and difficult to use as well as tending to drip and being a nightmare to wash out. Then I started using It's Pure and wish I'd done it years ago. A doddle to prepare, easy to apply and with nothing else in it, it doesn't drip and just washes gently out. The colour is consistent and I now blend it with indigo, as my hair gets more silver - something which my awed friends regard as some sort of alchemy but which is also a doddle with pure henna.
I recommend it to everyone who wants to know how I get my hair colour - so writing a review is just recommending it to those who've not asked me. Honestly, don't waste your time on anything else. Read the handy leaflet carefully and enjoy!

Beautiful colour

I have been using henna for years, revisiting it after years of chemical dyes which have left my hair thinning and in bad condition. This is the best henna I have tried, giving me the vibrancy of colour I wanted and shine. I would recommend.

Fantastic Grey Coverage

I was a slave to the Lush henna block, thinking it was the only natural option to covering my greys and avoiding harsh chemicals..I was panicking when Lush withdrew their henna and I had no alternative but to look around online for other henna products as going back to chemical was not something I wanted to do. It turns out , as far as I am concerned , a blessing in disguise for me that I could no longer get the block. I am so happy with this . The smooth paste makes it much easier to apply and goes a lot further,( so much better cost effective product) , the coverage is just superior, I normally leave the henna on for 8-9 hours but I left this one on only 3.5 hours and coverage is better , and it does not clump up and drop bits off crumbs everywhere, so the mess was far less. I have jet black hair with grey bits at the temple and top plus some at the back and it covered it all. The lemon juice used, I have since learned, also gets your hair super shiny. My hair is just below shoulder length, very thick and thick needed only one 100gm pack, plus a quarter pack of the indigo that I mixed to try, I am so pleased with it and would recommend it to anyone. Cannot wait to try with a bit moe indigo next time to see what the colour comes out with ! Thank you!
