Get The "Perfect" Beach Body - Without Changing A Single Thing
Remember that infamous ad - are you beach body ready? Don’t worry, we already know you are - but keeping your skin soft, smooth and glowing for a day at the beach can be tricky!
We know the perfect beach body doesn’t exist; and we're not suggesting you change a single thing; perfection isn't about changing how you look, but in how you feel about yourself.
Whether you’re going to rock that bikini or just want to show off your pedicure in a new pair of sandals; we have got some simple, easy to follow skin and body care tips to make sure you feel confident.
Never mind you being beach body ready; the beach will have to get ready for you!
1. Stay Sun Safe
Of course, the absolute key thing to summer skin care is sun safety. If you’re out all day, especially if you’re wearing swimwear; it’s likely you’re going to get a lot of sun exposure.
Forget about how hot it is; it is always key to keep yourself SPF protected - after all, sun damage can cause serious skin issues, so it’s best to avoid that!
We recommend using an organic sunscreen, with SPF 30. If you go for a dip, make sure to re-apply afterward!
The Odylique Sun Screen is hypoallergenic, safe for all the family and eco-friendly - meaning you don’t need to worry that your sun screen is harmful to the natural beach ecosystem (a win all round!)
If you’re somewhere extra hot, or you’re planning a few days where you’ll be out all day in the sun, make sure you have Organnii After Sun to hand; it’s usually seen as a last resort if you’ve over done it and got burned, but it helps prevent skin from drying and cracking after a long period in the heat - think of it like an additional body lotion.
2. Get soft, smooth skin
If you, like us, neglect certain areas until you finally try on your bikini and realise you’ve only been moisturising half your leg throughout winter (whoops!) you might want to start a little routine to get those often covered areas feeling softer and smoother before you hit the beach.
Start with an exfoliant; if you’re a fan of a more liquid product the Coconut Candy Scrub is excellent, or if you prefer a bar, try the Acala Grapefruit Soap.
Exfoliate your skin gently; no matter how long it’s been, you want to treat your skin with care, and let the exfoliating particles in the product do the work.
If you’re using the Coconut Candy Scrub, you might find it easier to use the flat of your hand for exfoliating, for a more even pressure throughout.
Rub in circles, moving upwards - this will help improve circulation in that area, aiding skin regeneration.
If you want to get a little tan before you hit the beach, the Acala Glow Bronzing Butter is fantastic (and buildable!) Don’t be put off by the colour in the jar - while the butter itself looks dark, it absorbs quickly into your skin, leaving it moisturised and soft. The pigments are very light on skin, and for a darker tan, you might want to re-apply to get a stronger colour.
3. Show Off Your Sandals
Wearing a new pair of sandals but tend to forget your feet in your body care routine? Sand is a great exfoliant regardless - so get barefoot and wiggle your toes! But why not spend some time giving your feet a little treat before you hit the beach?
Use the coconut candy scrub to slough off any dead, dehydrated or dry skin on your feet and pumice your callouses.
You might find it helpful to soak your feet afterward, in warm (not overly hot!) water, just to soften.
Dry your feet and then apply a good layer of Odylique Calendula Balm - this is especially repairing for any sore, sensitive areas on your feet. If you have very dry feet, you might find it better to do this overnight, and cover your feet (while they are fully coated in the balm) with cotton socks, so that the balm fully absorbs.
Paint your toes with a Benecos polish for an extra hit of colour, and then you’re ready rock your flip flops!
4. Take A Self Care Kit
Lastly, of course you’ll already have planned a beach bag with plenty of water, sun screen, hat and glasses; but if you’re prone to skin issues in the heat, you might want to take a few little extras with you to stay cool.
Acala rose-water is absolutely key for anyone prone to redness, dryness, or heat rash, as a great alternative to aloe vera. Simply spray it over the hot areas (making sure not to get any in your eyes) for a cooling effect.
You’ll also find, if you’re someone struggling with hormone fluctuations (whatever those may be!) rose water is great for cooling you down if you’re trying to beat the heat.
The bottles are only 50ml; perfect for handbag size; but you get a lot out of a little bottle; and if your eyes feel very dry after a day at the beach, soaking a cotton pad in rosewater and placing it over closed eyes for 10-15 minutes will help hydrate tired eyes, and reduce redness, and puffiness.
Take some small skin care items to care for your delicate areas. Make sure to take sunglasses to prevent eye damage, and if you find yourself squinting at the sun a lot, pack a small size of the Odylique Timeless Rose Cream to keep your eye area moisturised.
Pack a lip balm to prevent chapped lips; the Benecos raspberry lip balm is full of natural oils to keep lips soft, supple and hydrated.
If you have any problem areas - take the Odylique Ultra Rich Balm to re-apply throughout the day where needed. This is great on skin prone to eczema or psoriasis; keeping it nourished and moisturised.
You can also use the balm in the ends of your hair; if you have high porosity hair, or you’re planning on some wild swimming, you might find it helpful to apply this before and after, to stop any breakage.
