COSY BEAUTY - THE NEW AT HOME SKINCARE TREND ORGANIC BEAUTY DOES BEST

The autumn nights are drawing in, winter is definitely on its way and a new beauty trend has emerged across social media that for once, we’re loving.

Called ‘cosy beauty’, instead of being about spending tonnes of money on spas and treatments, it’s about bundling up in the safety of your home, alone or with someone else and getting snuggly.

Think warming oils, slow facials, and long soaks in the tub.  Massages, facial saunas, and rich body creams applied lavishly are the order of the day, before you don cotton pjs and thick socks and wrap yourself in blanket bliss.

Unlike so many social trends, this isn’t about aesthetics, at least not exclusively. The aim of this is self-care and nourishment.  Using winter as a hibernation and healing time; so vital after the last year with all it’s drama.

So, how does it work?

1.        Draw a bath

Absolutely no hotter than 37 – 38 degrees please, otherwise you’re at serious risk of burns.  Pack it with essential oils like lavender, and patchouli for luxury.   You can add salts like Epsom or magnesium for muscle release, but watch out for bath oils.  They’re lovely, but deadly, perhaps wait until you get out.

2.       Scrub up, from top-to-toe

BEFORE you get in the tub, grab a body brush OR an organic sugar scrub and using small circular motions scrub every inch of your body.  Work in the direction of the heart to increase blood flow and warm your body up, but don’t apply it to the face – it’ll be too harsh.

3.       Condition Cosily

Before you get too comfy, thickly coat your hair in a treatment of your choosing – we love a good hair oil.  Massage it into the roots, then wrap your hair with a towel.  The heat will penetrate to ensure the oils work their magic best.

4.       Magic Masks

Applying your mask whilst you’re in the tub adds both to the luxurious experience of your cosy treatment, but also again, the heat helps the treatment to work deep into the pores, drawing out impurities and gunk.

Look for a mask with ingredients like maca and baobab, which nourish and care whilst cleansing, without being too harsh. Avoid sheet masks, which are not great for the environment.

5.       Soak it up

Take at least twenty minutes to soak in your tub, during which time those lovely ingredients will work their magic on your body. Close your eyes and breathe in wellbeing.

6.       Slather on bliss

Once your finished, rinse everything off, give your hair a clean with an organic shampoo and step out but DON’T dry off completely.

Whilst the skin is still slightly damp, massage a body oil over the skin, letting it sit for a minute or too (wrap the towel around yourself straight from the heater – so lovely).

Follow up with an organic facial oil containing warming winter ingredients to protect against the chill.

We like Acala's own Frankincense facial oil blend, which gets its reputation as luxurious for very good reason. It adds radiance and is soothing, nourishing and beyond good at restoring balance to the skin.

Massage it in from neck to forehead working in short, upwards motions to encourage the blood flow and finish with slow, soothing strokes.

Finally, to finish off your luxury experience add a couple of drops of your preferred aromatherapy oil to either a diffuser or a simple little bowl, with a few drops of water popped on the radiator.

We also pop a little lavender on our blankets for the ultimate in relaxing vibes – but remember to be careful with this if you’re in the earliest stages of pregnancy.

Key Ingredients to Choose for the BEST Cosy Beauty Experience:

Frankincense:  reduces inflammation, redness and helps aid memory and relaxation. Perfect for stressed minds

Organic Coconut Oils and Sugars:  Naturally sourced and gentler on the skin then salts, coconut sugar is an ideal exfoliant.  Coconut oils are intensely moisturising and great for sensitive skins.

Argan Oil: Ideal for hair and body, it’s strengthening, brilliant for shine and ideal for inflamed or sore skins and dry cracked hair
